Surdas, the best poet of Brajbhasha, who is considered the sun of Hindi literature. Surdas wrote many beautiful verses from Vatsalya Bhava to Krishna Leela. Surdas composed many texts.

 

Sant Surdas was a great poet and musician known for his devotional songs dedicated to Lord Krishna. Surdas was born blind and because of this he could never get love from his family.

He left his home at the young age of six and started praising Lord Krishna at a very young age. According to historians, Sant Surdas was born in 1478 AD. He was born in Sihi village of Faridabad, Haryana. Although some people claim that he was born in Runkata near Agra.

 

The birth anniversary of Sant Surdas falls on the Shukla Paksha, Panchami in the month of Vaishakh. Surdas’s music and fine poetry were widely praised. As his fame spread far and wide , the Mughal emperor Akbar became his patron . Surdas spent the last years of his life in Braj.

 

Krishna Bhakti of Surdas –

 

Many stories are prevalent about Surdas’s devotion to Krishna. According to a legend, once Surdas was so immersed in the devotion of Krishna that he fell into a well, after which Lord Krishna himself saved his life and also appeared in his conscience. It is said that when Krishna saved Surdas’s life, his eye light was returned.

 

In this way Surdas had first seen his beloved, dear Krishna in this world. It is said that Krishna, pleased with Surdas’s devotion, asked him to ask for a boon, Surdas said that I have got everything, you again blind me because he did not want to see anyone other than Krishna. In the works of Surdas, there is a description of undying love and devotion for Krishna.

These compositions include Vatsalya Rasa, Shanta Rasa, and Shringar Rasa. Surdas, through his imagination, captured the wonderful child of Krishna. Swaroop, His beautiful form, His divinity is described. Apart from this, Surdas has also described his pastimes.
