Gujarat is fully equipped to take up natural agriculture as a mission: Chief Minister

Governor of Gujarat Shri Acharya Devvrat in a meeting held through video conference in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel giving guidance to the officials of the district administration said that, All the officials of the administration are committed to make Gujarat a role model of the country in the field of natural agriculture by making the land of Gujarat free from the toxins of chemical.

 

The conference was also attended by all the district agriculture officers, district animal husbandry officers and other concerned officials. The Governor in this virtual meeting said that, Due to the result oriented efforts of the Government of Gujarat and the efforts of the farmers, the campaign of natural agriculture has reached the rural level. Also with the help of the district administration, the state of Gujarat will be inspired by the country in the field of natural agriculture and the determination of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to adopt natural agriculture nationwide will be realized. The Governor congratulated Chief Minister for the efforts being made by the state government to make the mission of natural agriculture accomplish statewide. He further said that, “Chemical agriculture pollutes water, land and the environment,” he said. Chemical agriculture accounts for 24% of the problem of global warming. People are suffering from incurable diseases due to eating foods contaminated with chemicals.

 

The central government bears an economic burden of Rs 1,60,000 crore due to subsidies behind chemical fertilizers. Due to the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, the organic carbon of the soil is declining day by day and the soil is becoming barren. As agricultural costs continue to rise and production declines, so does the economic situation of farmers. The Governor termed natural agriculture as a strong alternative to chemical agriculture and added that the cost of natural agriculture is negligible, Moreover it protects water, land and environment. Indigenous cows are reared. And water consumption can be reduced by upto 50%. The demand for natural agricultural products is increasing day by day and in addition to it farmers are benefiting financially. He said that natural agriculture increases soil fertility, And production is not declining. The Governor termed natural agriculture as a divine act for the protection of health of the people and requested the present District Collectors and District Development Officers as well as the concerned officers to be fully involved in the state’s natural agriculture public campaign.

 

He said that the farmers in each district who have indigenous cows or who are getting assistance of Rs.900 per month for the rearing of indigenous cows should be approached to know whether they are engaged in natural agriculture and they should be motivated for natural agriculture through proper guidance. The Governor requested to conduct farmers conventions in the district to encourage more and more farmers to adopt natural agriculture. He also directed to hold a review meeting of the concerned officers every month for the progress of Prakritik Krishi Jan Abhiyan in each district. The Governor directed the district officials to make arrangements for the sale of natural agricultural products in each district and to inspire other farmers to spread the success story of progressive farmers who have adopted natural agriculture and encourage them. The Governor further added saying that, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has requested 75 farmers from each village to adopt natural agriculture with context to Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, while the state government is committed to motivate farmers in every village of Gujarat to adopt natural agriculture. The Governor also expressed his firm belief that the state of Gujarat would do exemplary work in the field of natural agriculture in the country through the best efforts of the district administration.

 

Chief Minister:-

 

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel called upon all the District Collectors, District Development Officers and Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Officers involved in this natural agriculture virtual conference to work with team work. He said that with such team work, the mantra of Sauna Saath, Sauna Vikas, Sauna Vishwas and Sauna Prayas of the Prime Minister can be realized and all-round agricultural development can be achieved through natural farming. The Chief Minister said that education, health and security could be the foundation of development on three pillars. It is certain that natural farming-chemical free farming can improve soil health and human health through such agricultural products. He added that Gujarat’s natural agriculture campaign under the visionary leadership of the esteemed Prime Minister is a leading example to resolve the problem of global warming and to conserve land and water. In this context, CM said that what the country and the world think today, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi thinks way ahead with foresight. He said that this is a great work of natural farming which will be remembered by the whole generation. And we can give a great gift of health care to today’s and tomorrow’s generation. The Chief Minister said that such seminars have become a way of conveying such agricultural works to the people, inspiring all the district officers.

At the beginning of this video conference meeting,Minister of Agriculture Shri Raghavji Patel detailed everyone by saying that , Natural farming in the state is being continuously promoted under the guidance of the esteemed Governor. So far, 2,44,000 farmers have been given guidance. The government has also allocated Rs 213 crore for indigenous cow based farming and Rs 31 crore for Dang district.

 

Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar assured that all the district administrators would take a note of the call made by the Governor and the Chief Minister to expand the scope of natural agriculture.

 

Additional Chief Secretary for Agricultural Co-operation Shri Mukesh Puri clarified the purpose of the conference and welcomed all.

 

ATMA Director Shri Barot, Falguniben, Etc. presented presentations on natural farming and manure based manure-biogas.

In this video conference meeting Chief Principal Secretary to CM Shri Kailashnathan, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Joshi and senior officials of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry joined from Gandhinagar. District Collectors of Dang-Bhavnagar etc. gave detailed information about the progress of natural agriculture in their district.
