Worship of Lord Shiva has special significance in the month of Magha. In this month, by bathing in the Ganges, worshiping Shiva and offering Ganga water to him, all the wishes are fulfilled. In the month of Magha, special combination of Pradosh fast of Shiva worship and monthly Shivratri is being formed. Also, Sarvath Siddhi Yoga is being formed on this day. Worship of Lord Shiva in this combination gives special results. According to the Panchag calculation, Shivratri and Pradosh fasting of this month is falling on 30th January. Special coincidence of Pradosh fast and Shivratri –
According to the Panchang, the Trayodashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of the month is starting on January 29 at 8.37 pm. It is ending on January 30 at 5:26 pm. In Udayatithi, Pradosh Vrat will be observed on Sunday, January 30. It is also called Ravi Pradosh Vrat because of Trayodashi Tithi on Sunday. On the other hand, Chaturdashi date is starting at 5:27 pm on Sunday itself, which will remain till 2.14 pm on January 31, the next day.
Auspicious time for Monthly Shivratri and Pradosh Vrat –
On January 30, from 6 pm to 8.05 pm, auspicious time is being made for the worship of Pradosh fast. Whereas for the worship of Monthly Shivaratri, the time of worship from 11.20 pm to 1:18 pm on January 30 is considered auspicious.
Worship method of Lord Shiva –
Do Rudrabhishek of Lord Shiva with milk, water, ghee, sugar, honey, curd etc. in auspicious time on the month of Shivaratri. Apart from this, offer Bel leaves and Datura on Shivling. Worship Lord Shiva with incense, lamp, fruits and flowers. While worshiping Shiva, worship Shiva Purana, Shiva. The worship of Ravi Pradosh fast is done in the evening during Pradosh period. On the day of Ravi Pradosh, get up before the sun rises and after bathing, first of all offer water to Lord Surya. Then worship Shivling and after doing charity, break the fast on the next day.
