True Good Governance Is Achieved When Employees Become Karmayogis: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel

by NewsMonks

On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Good Governance Day (Sushan Divas) was celebrated in Gandhinagar under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel. Education Minister Shri Kuber Dindor and Minister of Women and Child Development Shri Bhanuben Babaria were present at this occasion.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi initiated the celebration of the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25 as ‘Sushasan Divas’ every year since 2014. Appreciating the work of Karmayogis, he emphasised that true good governance is achieved when government employees become Karmayogis and bring the benefits of various government schemes to citizens in remote areas. True democracy and good governance are established when employees work in the same direction in the interest of citizens. For the past two decades, the former Chief Minister and current Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, have redefined the concept of good governance in Gujarat, and we are progressing towards that benchmark. We will collaborate to realise the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ so that the most marginalised people can increasingly benefit from state and central government schemes.

The Chief Minister mentioned that due to good governance, Gujarat is set to successfully host the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in January 2024. Given the keen interest of leading global companies in investing not only in India but also in Gujarat under the Prime Minister’s guidance, we must be well-prepared in all sectors.

Upon reflecting on his visit to Japan, he observed the absence of trash cans on Japanese roads, highlighting the citizens’ dedication to cleanliness. With around 100 of the world’s top 500 companies currently operating in Gujarat, there exists a collective imperative to prioritize cleanliness from rural to urban areas.

Government employees, working as Karma Yogis, are directly improving the well-being of citizens in remote areas. This serves as an example of good governance.

Under the ‘STATE SWAGAT ONLINE’ program, introduced by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, justice continues to be delivered to marginalized citizens even today. Through the Prime Minister’s Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, we have successfully extended benefits to the farthest households, exemplifying true good governance. By persisting in this campaign, our future efforts should prioritise completing tasks for the beneficiary through a single application. If, for any reason, the approach is not viable, the goal should be to provide a thorough explanation along with the reasons, ensuring their satisfaction.

Chief Secretary Shri Raj Kumar stated that utilising the various resources of the country and society for the development and benefit of the common man is what defines good governance. This approach emphasises administrative transparency, accountability, responsiveness, non-discriminatory action, effectiveness, and administration within the law. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, the Gujarat government has prioritised E-governance, with various departments launching new technology-based apps every year. These innovative applications empower the general public to conveniently and quickly manage tasks from their homes. The state government has taken a significant step toward good governance by implementing an online examination system for recruitment in various departments. This system is expected to bring more transparency to government recruitment processes. Due to effective governance in Gujarat, global investors are generating revenue in dollars by investing in Indian rupees in the state.

On this occasion, the Chief Secretary congratulated the Heads of Departments for the new apps and portals launched by various departments.

On this occasion, Shri Kamal Dayani, Additional Chief Secretary of the General Administration department, extended a warm welcome to the invitees and attending guests. He emphasised that good governance is a journey involving the government and administrative system’s dedicated efforts to provide service facilities to citizens. True good governance ensures that the benefits of state welfare schemes reach the beneficiaries in a transparent and timely manner. It also entails establishing a robust system to protect legitimate beneficiaries from being deprived and to ensure that ineligible beneficiaries do not exploit such schemes.

The Gujarat government has made it a mission to provide services in the public interest, offering numerous services and facilities to citizens on time through the administrative system. The government has transformed the provision of services from taking a week to a day and from a day to an hour. Additionally, with the help of technology, services that citizens previously had to visit offices for are now available at home. A documentary film themed on ‘Gujarat Model – Sushasan Karmabhumi,’ showcasing the achievements and future goals of the state government in good governance, was also released.

In this state-level program, the Principal Secretary of the General Administration Department, Shri Dhananjay Dwivedi, and the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department, Shri Ashwini Kumar, were present along with senior officers and employees from various departments. Additionally, local office bearers, including ministers, MPs, MLAs, Collectors, DDOs, leaders, and officers-employees from all the districts of the state, joined virtually.
