Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s wife Twinkle Khanna has jokingly offered her opinion amid the ongoing controversy over Muslim girl students wearing hijab in Karnataka. Twinkle believes that only women should have the right to choose what women should wear.
The hijab controversy started earlier this year when some Muslim girls from the coastal district of Udupi approached the court alleging that they were denied admission to college for wearing hijab. The girls also wanted that the government order banning any clothes that disturb peace, harmony and public order be revoked.
Sharing her opinion on the matter, Twinkle made a tweet on Sunday. The actress writes, “The burqa, the hijab and even the veil have contributed in some way or the other to the religious and cultural construction. Although I am not a supporter of any kind of screen, but this decision should be taken by women only, that too without any pressure or threats.”
He added, “I was very laughed at hearing some religious leaders were talking about how a hijab prevents men from wooing. All these brothers should sit down and talk to stand-up comedians instead. Very few men think of a woman’s head as an erogenous zone. Do you remember a date night where your husband or your boyfriend is saying, ‘Wow your head looks so hot today’? Thank you darling, I will try to keep it in shape and don’t let it spoil its beauty.
