COLORS’ magnum opus ‘Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyag Tandav’ revolves around two of the most venerated deities – Shiv and Shakti. It outlines their journey of duty, sacrifice, and separation that leads to tap, tyag, and tandav. Having curated a show in the mythological genre on an opulent canvas earlier, COLORS and King of Mythology Siddharth Kumar Tewary has brought a visually marvelous saga that is enthralling the audiences. ‘Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyag Tandav’ airs Monday to Sunday at 8pm only on COLORS.

Excerpts below:

1. Tell us something about Shiv Shakti- Tap Tyag Tandav.

A. Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyag Tandav is a mythological show that depicts the first love tale in the universe between Shiv and Shakti. In the current story, Lord Shiva gets jeered by Prajapati Daksh during the Mahayagya which results in Sati Dahan, and it acts as a trigger for events that alter the course of history. While on the other hand, Tarkasur has been spending a lot of time in meditation to harness the power necessary to vanquish Indra and the Devas and take control of Swarg Lok.

2. Tell us about your character in the show.

A. I’m essaying the role of Narad, son of Lord Brahma in Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyag Tandav. Narad is regarded as a traveling musician and a wise sage who imparts wisdom. He was gifted with a boon of knowledge regarding the past, present, and future. He is often seen chanting the words ‘Narayan, Narayan’ whenever he makes an appearance, and he worships Lord Vishnu through devotional songs.

3. Why did you choose to play this mythological character in the show?

A. As a genre and way of life, mythology is very close to my heart. It is an honour to play the role of the greatest sage known to humankind. He had the ability to travel anywhere in the universe. We worship Narad Muni for his intelligence, knowledge, and devotion to Lord Vishnu. He is mischievous and not afraid to speak his mind in a witty manner. It is a privilege to be part of producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s vision.

4. What is your message to your viewers?

A. Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyag Tandav aims to impart spiritual wisdom that will remain relevant for eternity. This saga encourages us to find our inner strength and accept the divinity within us.
