According to a press release issued by the Gujarat government, in view of the increasing number of cases of Covid-19 Corona in the state, a meeting of the core committee chaired by CM Vijay Rupani and Deputy CM Nitin Patel today decided to intensify testing, tracking and treatment. It was also decided to involve final year students in this operation. The front secretary of the health department, Dr. Jayanti Ravi said that senior officials of the health department as well as the faculty deans of all the universities in the state were consulted for the operation.
Students studying in third year-first in various medical colleges across the state, whose theory examinations have been completed, but whose practical examinations are pending, have decided to postpone their practical examinations for the time being. All such students must be present immediately for compulsory duty. Those whose theory exams are currently underway will continue as usual. Dr. Jayanti Ravi further said that all the students studying in the third year-final and who are currently undergoing the practical examination will have to join the covid duty from the second day after the completion of the examination.
Students studying in urban area colleges have to contact the Municipal Commissioner immediately under the coordination of their college principal and students studying in districts other than urban areas have been directed to appear before the district collector immediately under the coordination of their college principal. In addition to MBBS, all third year senior students including Nursing, Dental, Physiotherapy and AYUSH will have to join this operation. In addition, junior students will also be involved in the operation if required, said Health Front Secretary Dr. Jayanti Ravi said.
