According to billionaire Lakshmi Mittal’s brother Pramod Mittal, he is Britain’s largest debtor with a debt of Rs 24,650 crore. Pramod Mittal, who spent Rs 500 crore on his daughter’s wedding in 2013, was declared bankrupt in June. He claimed to have only 45 pounds of land near Delhi and valued his property at 110,000 pounds (one and a half crore).
Pramod, 64, says he has a debt of Rs 23,750 crore. I lost all my possessions in one contract. Now I have no means of income. Only Delhi has one land. I have only one and a half crore rupees now. I have no earnings. The wife is not dependent on me either. The fact is that the crisis of living is now in front of me. My monthly expenses are around Rs 2 lakh.
