India’s women’s cricketers lost their first ODI against South Africa’s women’s team today as the men’s team of Team India won the four-Test series 3-1 against the English team on their knees. But in this match, Harmanpreet Kaur and Mithali Raje have set a unique record to their name. In the first ODI played in Lucknow, the South African women’s team defeated the Indian team by eight wickets. This is South Africa’s biggest win in terms of wickets against India.
India scored 177 for nine in 50 overs in reply to the South African women’s team losing just two wickets in 40.1 overs to score 178 runs. Liezel Lee and Laura Wolward scored half-centuries for their team. With this, the South African team has taken a 1-0 lead for the five ODI series.
Earlier, India were able to score 177 runs with the help of Mithali Raj’s 50 runs. India’s first two wickets fell for just 18 runs. Smriti 14 and Jemima Rodriguez were able to score a run. After that Poonam Raut also returned to the pavilion with 10 runs. Mithali and Harmanpreet Kaur shared a 62-run stand for the fourth wicket.
