The Indian women’s cricketers lost their first ODI against the South African women’s team in Lucknow. This was South Africa’s biggest win in terms of wickets against India. With this, the South African team took a 1-0 lead for the five ODI series. But in the second ODI today, the women’s cricket team regained its momentum and in the second ODI, they beat South Africa by nine wickets to level the five-match series 1-1.

With the help of a century partnership for the second wicket by Smriti Mandhana and Poonam Raut after the deadly bowling of veteran pace bowler Zulhan Goswami, the Indian women’s cricket team beat South Africa by nine wickets in the second ODI to level the five-match series 1-1.

India won the toss and elected to field first. Zul, who was named Player of the Match, took four wickets for 42 runs as the African women’s team was bowled out for 157 in 41 overs.

The Indian team lost the opener Jemimah Rodriguez (9) by 22 runs on an easy target. Mandhana and Poonam then scored without further damage to the team. Mandhana scored an unbeaten 80 off 64 balls and Poonam scored an unbeaten 62 off 89 balls besides a 138-run stand for the second wicket.

Earlier, African batswoman Muktam could not play scoring shots against the disciplined bowling of Indian bowlers. Lara Goodall top-scored with 49 off 77 balls. Skipper Sun Luce contributed 36 off 57 balls. Only five players from the African team were able to reach double-digit scores.
