Mr Kamlesh Patel , President , Heartfulness Institute and Mr Ashish Bhatia, Director of General Police, Gujarat State signed the MoU the objective of which is to promote mutual cooperation by organizing and conducting Heartfulness Meditation and Wellness workshops for mental, spiritual and psychological well-being of Gujarat Police staff as well as others in various cities of Gujarat and to expand the basis for friendly and cooperative collaborations through the MoU. The Wellness workshops are intended to help the Police regulating and calming the mind, acquire emotional well-being, personal mastery. These interventions will enable heartful communication, cultivate value-based leadership, promote better decision making, facilitate unity, provide tools to manage anger, engender stress management and garner work-life balance.

Speaking on the occasion, Guide of Heartfulness Shri Kamlesh Patel ‘Daaji’ said, “It gives me immense happiness to see the willingness of Gujarat Police to embrace the Heartfulness technique for cultivating self-awareness, expanding consciousness and attaining an overall wellbeing. Meditation techniques are ideal tool that sharpens the mind and helps in handing the most difficult situations of life with poise and equanimity. Given the enormous responsibility that police have to bring order in the society, they must be the pillars of the society – and this inner strength cultivated by regular meditation facilitates dutifulness, efficiency and composure in tackling day to day life”

This is not the first time that Heartfulness Institute has joined hands with Gujarat Police. Earlier they Heartfulness Institute had commenced their association with Gujarat Police in 2018 through a small pilot programme at Ranip police station in Ahmedabad. Having experienced instant stress relief and de-tensioning after three Heartfulness sessions, the feedback was spread like wildfire. This led to taking the programme to 36 other locations across Gujarat state wherein all the police officials were systematically catered to by weekly meditation sessions.

In 2020, an online Dhyanotsav programme was organised and witnessed a stupendous achievement of 1,35,000 police personnel across Gujarat participating in this online event and were immensely benefited by the Meditation sessions and the crucial guidance Pujya Daaji provided to the police personnel. Integrating meditation practices in their daily life is helping them face the stress and uncertainty with utmost courage and aplomb. During Covid times, Heartfulness volunteers conducted online meditations sessions area wise / department wise in more than 60% of Gujarat state. With meticulous follow-ups this has been sustained for more than a year.

Over the last six months, face to face meditation sessions have resumed in more than 50 locations. More than 10,000 police personnel have been reintroduced giving each of them three introductory sessions through the face-to-face orientation in Heartfulness meditation. It is germane to mention that in the ‘Yoga for Unity” online interventions undertaken by Heartfulness in 2021 and 2022, 30,000 and 25,000 police personnel respectively participated in this event. Recently the top brass of Gujarat police at DGP office at Gandhinagar were inducted through three sessions with very positive feedback from the senior police officials as well. The signing of this MoU is goes to show the conviction that the top police officials have on the effectiveness of the system.
