World Hearing Day 2021 marks the launch of the World Report on Hearing, presenting a global call for action to address hearing loss and ear diseases across the life course. The theme of the World Hearing Day is Hearing care for ALL! Screen. Rehabilitate. Communicate. The World Hearing Day 2022 and the World Report on Hearing present a global call for action to address hearing loss and ear diseases across the life course. To raise more awareness about on the theme today School health program under RBSK with Gandhinagar Civil Cochlear implant center organized a program with kids who are now able to hear, talk and understand the things with having implant treatment. Timely and effective intervention can ensure that people with hearing loss are able to achieve their full potential. Dr. Neeraj Suri – ENT Specialist Doctor – Child Cochlear Implant Surgeon, Manoj aggarwal – Additional Chief Secretary Health & Family, Shahmeena Husain – Health Commissioner , Dr.Nayan P Jani -Additional Director (Family Welfare), Dr.Neelam Patel – Public Health, Dr. Kuldeep Arya – Collector,Gandhinagar, Dr.Dhaval Patel – Muncipal Commissioner and Dr.Nilesh Thakor, OSD – School Health Program.
On this occasion,Dr. Neeraj Suri (ENT Specialist Doctor -Child Cochlear Implant Surgeon – Civil Hospital) along with collector Gandhinagar were present to encourage kids. Families with their differently abled kids gathered in Gandhinagar auditorium. More than 80 kids participated and spoke their talent to show the world.
Talking about the program Dr. Neeraj Suri (Ent Specialist Doctor – Child Cochlear Implant Surgeon, Civil Hospital Gandhinagar) said that, the number of people living with unaddressed hearing loss and ear diseases needs timely intervention. Timely action is needed to prevent and address hearing loss across the life course. Hearing loss is the second most common handicap In India. Majority of it is treatable if done at the right time. Those children who are unable to hear from birth are not able to speak too. 4 out of every 1000 children who are born have severe hearing loss, which require advanced surgery called cochlear implantation.
She also added that, Good hearing and communication are important at all stages of life. Hearing loss (and related ear diseases) can be avoided through preventative actions such as: protection against loud sounds; good ear care practices and immunization. Hearing loss (and related ear diseases) can be addressed when it is identified in a timely manner and appropriate care sought.
We hope that the World Hearing Day 2022 will be a massive call to action. All sectors can demonstrate their leadership by making this year’s event the largest one the country has ever seen.
