The Gujarat IT/ITes Policy 2022-27 announced to boost digital innovation in the state under the leadership of Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel is receiving wide response. This policy of Gujarat has become useful in realizing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Digital India Mission and the vision of self-reliant India.

In this context MoU for construction of state’s first submarine cable landing station and data center with an investment of over 1000 crores has been signed between Government of Gujarat and Light Storm in the presence of the Chief Minister.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Vijay Nehra, Secretary, Department of Science Technology, Government of Gujarat and Mr. Amajit Gupta, CEO of Light Storm.

As a result of this MoU, more than 2000 employment opportunities will be created under Gujarat’s IT Policy (2022-27) in the next 5 years.

Under this project, a submarine cable will be established directly from Europe to Gujarat, due to which data connectivity with Europe, Middle East, US and Asia will increase and the establishment of infrastructure like data centers in the state will be accelerated and Gujarat will become the third state in the country to establish such cable landing.

The new IT Policy (2022-27) announced by the Chief Minister has created attraction in the entire IT sector.

Not only this, the continued focus on employment generation and skill development has led to the emergence of unique and viable incentives such as the Employment Generation Incentive (EGI) and Atmanirbhar Gujarat Sahay Yojana.

The policy also introduces the innovative concept of CAPEX-OPEX model for the first time in the Indian IT investment promotion policy landscape.

Within a short span of 7 months since the policy was announced, the state has so far signed 16 MoUs with leading local and global IT companies, potentially creating 28750 skilled IT jobs.

Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Pankaj Joshi and senior officials of DST were present on the occasion of MoU signing.
