For many Indians, finding the right life partner is rarely just about two people. It is a family affair filled with introductions, awkward first meetings, endless questions and opinions from everyone around the table. Bringing this familiar experience of the Great Gujarati matrimony meetings to life with a contemporary twist, Shemaroo Premiere presents ‘Haju Vaat Chaale Che’, an original series created by National Award winners Rahul Bhole and Vinit Kanojia, premiering on 22nd October 2026, exclusively on ShemarooMe. Set in Vadodara, the series follows Shivani Dave, an independent bank employee from a close-knit, middle-class family. As one arranged-marriage meeting follows another, Shivani finds herself balancing the expectations of her family with her own individuality, expectations and aspirations. From first impressions and family assessments to questions of financial equality, physical and emotional compatibility, self-respect and the pressure to settle down, the series captures the humour, chaos and unexpected moments that make the search for a life partner anything but straightforward. Each episode brings a new potential groom (a muratiyo) to the Daves’ doorstep, from an eccentric entrepreneur pitching his herbal miracle balm to an NRI suitor whose father and family join in over a video call, turning every meeting into a fresh round of matrimonial chaos and a new window into what Shivani truly wants in a life partner. Jhanvi Gurnani plays Shivani, while Raunaq Kamdar as Akash, alongside Anurag Prapanna, Chhaya Vora, Ava Bhatt, Meghna Solanki, Maanav Shah, Chetan Dhanani, Dheirya Thakkar, Parikshit Tamaliya, Maulik Nayak, Pramath and NakshRaaj. Together, the ensemble brings to life the many personalities, perspectives and family dynamics that shape this familiar yet often unpredictable journey. Speaking about playing Shivani, Jhanvi Gurnani says, “What drew me to the series was how relatable Shivani felt. She is independent, knows what she wants from life and doesn’t have to choose between her individuality and her family. I also loved that the show is a light-hearted family entertainer while exploring situations that feel real. Collaborating with ShemarooMe made it even more exciting, as the show brings together the cultural familiarity of Gujarati storytelling with a contemporary outlook.” Raunaq Kamdar adds, “Akash is an interesting character because he is more than just a romantic interest in Shivani’s life. I believe a good family entertainer doesn’t need to be loud or complicated to connect with audiences. When the characters feel real and the situations are familiar, the humour comes naturally. ‘Haju Vaat Chaale Che’ has that quality. There are moments that will make you laugh, along with little observations that make you pause and think. I was also excited to collaborate with ShemarooMe and be part of its growing slate of original regional content.” ‘Haju Vaat Chaale Che’ asks questions that many families quietly argue over at the dining table. What should a marriage be built on: compatibility, family approval or equality? Who gets the final say? Rooted in Gujarati culture and the warmth of family life, the series looks at the gap between what parents hope for and what the new generation expects, and does it with humour and heart rather than lectures. For Shemaroo Premiere, it is another original that tells a story with a universal pulse. Get ready for the family drama and matchmaking madness! ‘Haju Vaat Chaale Che’ premieres on 22nd October 2026, exclusively on ShemarooMe.
