Ahmedabad, October 15, 2026: The journey of a film does not necessarily end with its theatrical release. For Drop Out, the Hindi feature film produced by Umashanker Yadav under his banner SERENE FILMS, the next chapter unfolds across digital streaming platforms and a literary festival that brings stories, ideas and contemporary social concerns into conversation.
The film begins streaming on BookMyShow Stream on October 16, 2026, and is also set to arrive on Amazon Prime Video, with the release date currently being finalised. All other formalities for its release on Amazon Prime Video have been completed.
Adding another dimension to the film’s journey, Drop Out will be featured at the 11th Ahmedabad International Literature Festival (AILF), scheduled for October 24–25, 2026, at The Ummed Ahmedabad. The film will be discussed as part of the festival, with selected portions screened on a large screen. Yadav, who is both the film’s producer and the Founder Director of AILF, sees this association as a natural meeting point between cinema and literature—two powerful mediums capable of reflecting society, inspiring change and connecting people through stories.
Released theatrically across major Indian cities on May 29, 2026, Drop Out is an inspirational Hindi feature film that explores the pressures, aspirations and difficult choices confronting young people. Through its central narrative, the film engages with issues relevant to students and young adults, making it particularly pertinent to a festival that encourages meaningful conversations about contemporary life.

The 11th edition of AILF carries the theme “Literature & the Echoes of Joy – The Stories That Heal, Inspire and Redefine Joy.” Around 60 speakers from India and abroad are expected to participate in the two-day festival, exchanging ideas on literature, cinema, society, culture and the changing world around us. International participation will include speakers from Russia, Vietnam, Mali, Iraq, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
The distinguished lineup includes Padma Shri Kumarpal Desai; acclaimed filmmakers and writers Sanjay Chhel and Umesh Shukla; filmmaker Abhishek Shah; Gaurav Dwivedi; noted Telugu writer P. Lalita Kumari, popularly known as Volga; Dr. Manjula Pooja Shroff; V. S. Gadhvi, IAS (Retd.); Manoj Aggarwal, IAS (Retd.); and Ajay Chaudhry, IPS, among others.
With a special emphasis on youth and young adults, AILF seeks to go beyond conventional literary discussions by creating space for dialogue between literature, cinema, journalism, art and culture. The inclusion of Drop Out reflects this broader vision: bringing stories beyond the page and the screen into conversations that encourage reflection, understanding and fresh perspectives.
An initiative of the Ikon Education Foundation, the Ahmedabad International Literature Festival was launched in 2016 and has completed ten editions. Over the years, it has evolved into one of India’s prestigious literature festivals, providing a platform for writers, filmmakers, thinkers, artists and readers to engage with ideas that shape society.
For Yadav, the film’s transition from theatrical exhibition to digital platforms represents an opportunity to connect with audiences beyond geographical boundaries. Its association with AILF adds another avenue for engagement, allowing cinema to become part of a wider cultural and intellectual exchange.
As Drop Out prepares to reach viewers through BookMyShow Stream and Amazon Prime Video, its presence at AILF 2026 reinforces a shared belief in the enduring power of storytelling—to inspire, question, connect and leave a lasting impact.
