According to a press release issued by the Government of Gujarat, Vocational training on bee keeping was imparted to the farmers of the district by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Surat, managed by Navsari Krishi University. In which about 20 farmers enthusiastically participated and got guidance on bee keeping.
The program was led by senior scientist and head of the Center for Agricultural Sciences, Dr. J. H. Rathore said that Surat Krishi Vigyan Kendra provides various trainings to farmers in agriculture as well as animal husbandry. He said that due to the demand for excellent honey in the country and abroad, farmers can earn extra income by adopting beekeeping as a supplementary occupation along with farming.
Dr. SK Chavda, Scientist (Crop Protection) of Krishi Vigyan Kendra gave useful information about the importance of bee keeping. Business teacher Bhagubhai Patel as well as Vinodbhai Nkum of Arpit Organics imparted practical training on bee keeping.
In order to provide incentives to the farmers, District Horticulture Director D. That. Padalia gave a detailed understanding of the various assistance schemes of the Horticulture Department on beekeeping and the importance of beekeeping.
