Ahmedabad: A high-level delegation headed by Mr. A K Gupta, Additional Director, Regional Centre for Urban & Environmental Studies (RCUES), Lucknow and Ms. Priyanka Kumar – Urban Planner RCUES has visited Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar Smart City ICCC Control Rooms including GIFT (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City) City from 21-23 February, 2020 to study the best practices and various aspects of Smart City which may be adopted in the smart cities of Uttar Pradesh (UP) in future.
The objective of three-day visit is to observe and analyse the best practices of ICT in these cities and how the same can be implemented in smart cities of UP. Uttar Pradesh state has been developing 10 smart cities funded by central government under Smart City Mission and 7 smart cities under state led fund.
The team appreciated the various unique initiatives taken by Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar administration for ICCC solutions like Solid waste management, Smart Poles, Digital Display, various Mobile Apps, general surveillance, intelligent traffic management system and machine based deep learning analytics. The best part found by the team was the Secura make Local processing units used in ITMS solutions to send relevant data to CR. Some of the Secura applications under general surveillance like Spitting while driving, No Helmet, No Hawking Zone etc was very much appreciated by the team. They also understood challenges of green filed development and brown filed development. Team said that the administration of both cities has successfully implemented infrastructural projects. They also learnt before and after situation of traffic in the city. Smart traffic management system provided by Secura has been very successful and that generated revenue also which can be adopted in other cities also apart from some recognition initiatives for law abiding citizens.
It is to mention that The RCUES was established at the University of Lucknow in the year 1968 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (earlier referred as Ministry of Urban Development), Government of India. The key activities of the RCUES includes Training, Capacity building, Research, Teaching, Consultancy Services and dissemination of information relating to the Urban Sector in various states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chandigarh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, UP, MP, Bihar, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal.
