Swami Govinddevgiri Maharaj, treasurer of the Ram Janmabhoomi Tirthkshetra Trust, said on Sunday that the main Ram temple in Ayodhya would be completed in three-and-a-half years at a cost of Rs 200-300 crore. More than Rs 1,100 crore is likely to be spent on the construction of the entire shrine on 50 acres of land. He said discussions with experts involved in the Ram temple construction project have finally reached this statistical conclusion. He said this during a conversation with a Marathi TV channel. The Temple Trust has not issued an official statement on the cost of the project.
He said, ‘There was a possibility of raising funds from some corporate families. Some corporate families approached us and demanded a temple design, assuring us that they would complete the temple project, but I humbly rejected the proposal. ‘
On the issue of criticism that the Ram Mandir fundraising campaign is an ongoing campaign by the BJP with a view to the 2014 Lok Sabha, he said that people are watching everything according to the number of glasses they are wearing. We are not wearing any glasses and we are moving forward keeping our eyes on the path of devotion.
“To raise funds for the construction of the Ram temple, we intend to reach 12 crore houses in 4.5 lakh villages,” he said.
