The value of any nation cannot be estimated on the basis of its wealth, trade, population or facilities, but on the basis of the inherent values of the nation. Usually value is a set of virtues, goodness, understanding, refinement and creative attitude. Education has been increased in our society today but understanding has been decreased. There is an explosion of information that is why probably the confusion has been increased. Conveniences have increased but happiness has declined. Relationships have grown but affection and love has diminished. Science has grown but scientific approaches are lacking. At present, the only cure for developing understanding, happiness, affection, and scientific approaches to human life, as well as getting rid of confusion, is proper education. Today’s lifestyle has alienated man from nature and culture. Education by conserving nature and by preserving the culture can only produce excellent results. Education is an essential part for the ethics and culture of any country. The holistic development of a person is possible through education. Thus education is life.
Through education, the body, mind, intellect and soul of the human being are developed. Everything that is achieved in human life is the result of education. A person’s character, personality, culture, contemplation, understanding, skills etc. all depend on education. Through education, not only the physical or the mental, but also the moral and spiritual development of the individual takes place which is very important. Thus, the spirituality is related to the soul and we know the human senses, mind and intellect are inspired by the power of the soul. Education is primarily a pursuit of knowledge. Knowledge can always be attained through faith. Faith is the combined spirit of love, respect, and trust. A person should have such an atmosphere of faith that the whole educational institute should be environment as human beings are inadvertently receiving the rites from the society around them so that not only the inside of the educational system, but also the outside environment should be refreshing. So that a child’s balanced development is possible. At the center of education is human life. A life without value and worthless education is the same as a soulless body. Education must be ethical, sincere and valuable. Our emotions, beliefs, ideals, rites, etc. are only connected and associated with values.
The purpose of education is to create an environment in which every child has the opportunity to contribute actively to the social awareness of the entire human race. The research has been done on how much did a valuable education achieve? And to what extent are human values digested? In the NALANDA University there has not been a single incident in the 800 years of the existence of the NALANDA University, when a student was required to be punished for any moral offense. All the scriptures have described the art of living as the best art. The only powerful tool with society to have such a healthy lifestyle is education. The real cent percent education is that only which accompany life with relationships, sensations, freedoms. VINOBAJI considers knowledge, science, and literature to be a factor after God, who saved creation and mankind. VIMALATAI has said that the twin responsibility of establishing truth in the pursuit of spirituality is the teaching of today’s 21st century. This means that education without spiritual understanding is incomplete because the development of human physical, mental, intellectual and morality depends on its spiritual power. Education should be associated with intellectual virtues as well as moral virtues. The attainment of moral virtues is not possible without spiritual education. So that education without spiritual knowledge cannot be carried out in any way as the mind and soul are the activators of the nervous system of the body so it is necessary to worry about it first.
If education is merely a means of earning a living, then it is inappropriate. There are some fundamental changes that need to be made to make education a sacramental institution such as health education because the first fundamental tool of all achievements and success is the human body so lessons of how to keep it healthy should be taught. Another thing which is required to teach is to make the mind powerful. For that there should be a system of teaching positivity, yoga, meditation, concentration etc. At the same time, the art of understanding and nurturing relationships and sweetening them should be taught. Teaching basic refinements like “Satyam-SHIVAM-SUNDARAM”, the knowledge of the soul-supernatural should be served. So that it can develop the qualities of discipline, virtue, love-feeling, compassion, cooperation, which are vital for living. That is only the true teaching which really teaches us to live life means the things connected to the body mind and soul should be taught. Teacher or Guru is the pillar of society. They are the heart of society. They give life to others as well as create new creatures and creations with innovative vision. In a country where there is no respect for the guru no love and trust for the guru, development of a society is never possible. Also, such a society cannot remain healthy (physically- mentally-spiritually) because faith is the basic condition for knowledge which can be gained only through respect, love and trust in the Guru. Yes it is certain that even in teacher, that level of quality is required. If the Guru does not have integrity, morality, values, virtues, how will he give his disciple because education is nothing but the acquisition and transformation of knowledge and experience.
Deep understanding and awareness of what we want to achieve through education is crucial. We all know that education determines the life development of a child in this world and we know the fact that the puzzle of one’s life remains unresolved until he knows himself. Unless a human being knows himself (soul), he cannot attain the true meaning of life. That is why self-realization and attainment of ultimate goal that is salvation has been considered the highest goal of life. VIDHYA is that which gives liberation (relief from pain) and it is not possible without knowing oneself. If such truth is understood then the teaching of spirituality would be automatically integrated into education. Life is not the pursuit of happiness it is the pursuit of truth. The supreme benevolence of life lies not in attaining happiness, but in truth. But the goal of today’s education is the illusion of happiness, and the desire for happiness only causes suffering. A successful teacher, even if the equipment is low, poor intermodal infrastructure, processes that result in a higher quality. Whatever a teacher teaches should reach completely to the students. The teacher should emphasize on learning of new things rather than teaching.
One who activates the student, asks questions from the front, sets goals, irrigates positive thinking, adopts democratic practices, prepares disciplined students is the real teacher. In short he looks after the overall development of the student. That is why in the Scriptures the teacher is considered as guru. Guru means big, which has all big and great qualities. The ‘GU’ of the word guru denotes darkness of ignorance while ‘RU’ denotes the glory of God so the one who removes darkness of ignorance from us and provide glory of God is called guru. I think with this deep understanding of qualitative education and quality of real guru we should celebrate the auspicious occasion of GURU-PURNIMA. On the auspicious day of GURUPURNIMA, my only request to the most Gracious God is that everyone receives a true Guru who will help them in achieving the ultimate goal of life.
