Indian cricket team’s fast bowler R. Vinay Kumar has retired from international and first class cricket. The player tweeted about this. Vinay Kumar has played one Test, 31 ODIs and 9 T20I matches for India. He last appeared in Team India’s jersey in November 2013.
In his last ODI against Australia, he gave up 102 runs for the loss of one wicket in 9 overs. In the match played in Bengaluru, opener Rohit Sharma scored the first double century of his ODI career. Rohit Sharma’s double century helped India beat Australia by 57 runs.
R. Vinay Kumar took 38 wickets in 31 ODIs at an average of 37.44. So he was 10 wickets quick at an average of 24.70 in 9 T20 matches. He was 1 wicket quick in the only Test match played against Australia. The 37-year-old from Karnataka got a chance to play in all three formats for the Indian team. Vinay Kumar made his ODI debut for India against Zimbabwe in 2010.
In this match, Rohit Sharma scored the first century of his career. He scored 114 off 119 balls. However, Zimbabwe won the match by 6 wickets.

Commenting on his decision to retire, Vinay Kumar said that today Davangar Express has reached the station which is called Sannyas after 25 years of running and passing so many stations in the life of cricket. With all these sentiments, I would like to announce the retirement of Vinay Kumar from International Cricket.
“It was not easy for me to make this decision,” the player tweeted. However there comes a time in the life of every player when he has to retire.
