Shreyas Iyer, who has been ruled out of the last two ODIs against England and the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a shoulder injury, will undergo surgery on April 8. The 26-year-old was injured in an attempt to stop Johnny Bairstow by making a shot dive in the first ODI on March 23 in Pune. The injured player was in excruciating pain and walked off the field.
According to media reports, Shreyas will have to undergo surgery on April 8 due to injury and the operation will take place. After the operation, the player will not be able to play for four months. Iyer will have to stay away from the field. England’s county team signed a one-day tournament from Lancashire. His chances of participating in the tournament, which starts on July 23 due to injury, are now slim.
Iyer tweeted last year that the bigger the disappointment, the stronger I will return. I’ll be back soon. I am reading your messages. I am overwhelmed by your love and support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Led by Iyer, the Delhi Capitals (DC) team reached the final of the IPL last season. Rishabh Pant has been made the captain of the team for the next season starting April 9.
