The Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO) on Saturday successfully test-fired the home-advanced artillery gun system howitzer cannon at the Balasore firing range in Odisha. This torr can aim for 48 kilometers. Currently, the Indian Army requires 1800 cannons. According to DRDO, these guns can meet the need. After that, there would be no need to import cannons from abroad. Prime Minister Modi emphasized on the people of the country to become self-sufficient during the Koro period. The Ministry of Defense is becoming self-sufficient by making indigenous weapons. CDS Bipin Rawat also said that future war will be fought only with indigenous weapons and won.
According to ANI, DRDO’s ATAGS project director Shailendra V Gade said, “Howitzer is the best cannon in the world.” No other country has such a cannon yet. The DRDO scientist says that the Indian Army has gained the most strength due to artillery. The cannon is capable of meeting the requirements of the 1800 artillery system of the Indian Army.
Shailendra V. Gadhe said it was designed within three years and put to the test. It will soon be subjected to PSQR tests. We have tested this cannon near the China border in Sikkim and the Pakistan border in Pokhran. There were over 2,000 fires during the test.
