The Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) has invited online bids for consultancy services for the purpose of redevelopment of Ahmedabad railway station. In order to get the bid, professional study, detailed master planning, urban designing and engineering and detailed project report (DPR) for redevelopment of the station will have to be prepared. The objective of the redevelopment is to provide state-of-the-art passenger facilities at the station as per the demand of the time affecting the historical significance of the station.
Ahmedabad Railway Station comes under the Ahmedabad Division of Gujarat. There are 12 platforms at the station. The station complex also has two minarets as relics of the Sidi Bashir Mosque, which is seen as a structural heritage. The station carries an average of 52,843 passengers daily.
There will be separate facility for arrival and departure at the new station. At the same time, it will be equipped with multi-modal transport integration, road connectivity, safety and surveillance system and other features.
Ahmedabad Railway Station is the largest station in Gujarat. This redevelopment project will enhance the beauty of the station while preserving its historical heritage. This will provide better facilities to the passengers and enhance their experience. Together with the Smart City initiative, this redevelopment will promote tourism in the surrounding areas and accelerate the real estate sector. According to Ved Prakash Dudeja, Vice Chairman – RLDA.
