PM Narendra Modi today inaugurated the operation of the country’s first driverless metro as well as the expansion of the National General Transport Card for the Delhi Metro’s Airport Express line. The card was launched from Ahmedabad last year. At the outset, PM Modi laid special emphasis on the important factor of integration of systems and processes to further strengthen the vision of ‘Minimum Governance and Maximum Good Governance’ i.e. ‘One India, Best India’.
The PM said that it is very important to provide the same standards and facilities for modernization. The introduction of general transport cards at the national level is a big step in this direction. This one card will provide passengers unified access to wherever they want to travel on any public transport.
Taking the example of the common transport card further, the PM laid special emphasis on the need for consolidation of all systems and processes to improve the ‘Ease of Living’. Such consolidation of systems will make the country more integrated and efficiently more powerful. PM Modi said that like one nation, one transport card, our government has integrated a number of things in the systems in the country in the last few years.
One Nation, One Fastag has paved the way for uninterrupted travel on all the highways in the country. This can save passengers from traffic jams and delays. One Nation, One Tax i.e. GST has removed all the complexities that used to exist in the tax systems and has now led to the implementation of a uniform indirect tax system. One nation, one power grid has ensured adequate and uninterrupted availability of electricity in every part of the country. It has also reduced power losses.
One nation, with the help of a gas grid, is ensuring uninterrupted gas connectivity in parts where gas-based life and economy were once considered a dream. One Nation, One Health Insurance Scheme means that millions of people in India are availing health services anywhere in the country through Ayushman Bharat. People moving from one place to another have been relieved of the hassle of creating a new ration card due to one nation, one ration card scheme. Similarly the country is moving in the direction of one nation, one agricultural market due to the recent agricultural reforms and systems like e-NAM.
