Sister born by IVF to save brother’s life for the first time in the country

Kavya Solanki, known as India’s first savior sibling, has turned one year old.  Kavya is a baby girl who was born by IVF to save the life of her elder brother Abhijeet.  Abhijeet, who is battling thalassemia, got Kavya’s bone marrow and has been in good health for the last six months.  This is the first case in India to save someone’s life in this way.  Savior siblings are children who are born to donate organs, bone marrow, or cells to their older siblings.  Stem cells are removed from the blood or cord blood of Savior Silving to treat a disorder like thalassemia.
