India is home to a plethora of aspiring and talented young musicians, but very few create a new benchmark with their exceptional skills and professionalism. Steven Samuel, a 14-year-old prodigy from Chennai, is one such artist making India proud. Steven plays many percussion instruments like cajon, darbuka, tabla but is specialized in drums. Rated as one of the fastest drummers in the world, Steven will be seen impressing one of India’s most celebrated musicians Vishal Dadlani with a mind-boggling performance in the third episode of Young Genius.
Steven and Vishal Dadlani’s jamming session is a highlight of the show which captures the phenomenal talent of the Young Genius. Steven, who was first brought into the live show circuit by noted percussionist Sivamani, is also into music productions and has already programmed a couple of songs. Steven wants to win the prestigious Grammy Award for his composition one day.
Talking about Steven Samuel, Vishal Dadlani said, “Steven Samuel is truly a great musician. It is not just about being a prodigy, but the articulation, the sensibility with which he performs that makes him a great drummer. I have been following Steven’s work and it’s an honour and pleasure to meet him at Young Genius.”
