A new education policy is being implemented to improve the level of education in the country but the reality is somewhat different. More than 5,000 government schools do not have access to drinking water and more than 15,000 schools do not have toilets. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank made such a sensational revelation in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha. Pokhriyal obtained the data from the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE). In 2016-17, out of 10,8,9 government schools in the country, 10,31,8 schools had drinking water facilities while 10,9,8 schools had toilets.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal tweeted on Friday about an important decision, saying that the government has removed the rule of at least 50 per cent marks in Std 12 for admission in Bachelor of Artitech. He clarified in a tweet that the admission rules for the academic year 2021-2 have been relaxed.
