Prof. (Dr.) Harish Hirani, Director, CSIR-CMERI, was the Chief Speaker in a Webinar on ‘Advancements in Water-RO Purifications and Opportunities of Manufacturing in Rajasthan’ organised by MSME-DI, Jaipur, World Trade Centre, Jaipur and Water Trade Association of Rajasthan, held today.
Prof. (Dr.) Hirani, in his address stated, “The Water Innovations of CSIR-CMERI are inspired from real-life implications and incidences. The primary focus of these technologies is maximum outreach of Cost-Effective Technology Innovations coupled with Socio-Economic Inclusiveness for the Micro and Small Enterprises. High-end cutting-edge Water Purification Solutions often do not penetrate to the most marginalised geographical regions, thus CSIR-CMERI develop technologies focussed exclusively upon these priorities. Affordability, Sustainability and Cyclical usage of resources receives prominence everywhere,” stated Prof. (Dr.) Hirani in his speech.
The CSIR-CMERI Director gave a detailed presentation on the CSIR-CMERI developed Water Technologies and how it has positively impacted the lives of innumerable people across the country. The Community, Medium and Domestic Scale Iron, Arsenic, Fluoride technologies were showcased in front of the enthused Start-Ups and MSEs. He also pointed out that the “Magic of Science is that when all the three purification technologies are unified in a Single System i.e. the FAIR Technology, which substantially reduces the purification cost per litre. Iron acts as a filter media for Arsenic and thus collective purification has a number of benefits.
CSIR-CMERI also engages in responsible management of Fluoride Sludge by converting it into bricks for construction purposes. This helps in preventing fluoride contamination through sludge from surface run-offs/leaching. CSIR-CMERI has the State Pollution Control Board recognized Water Testing Facility and thus all the Institute developed technologies are initially tested in-house. The Mechanized Drainage Cleaning System developed by the institution can also help contain the spread of contaminated water as it clears drainage choking and treats WasteWater through a decentralised Mobile Water Purification System. This also helps in addressing the flooding related issues of major cities across the nation, stated Prof. (Dr.) Hirani.
Shri D.R. Solanki, the Addl Chief Engineer, PHED, Government of Rajasthan, stated that technology innovations in water can help in achieving the objectives of the Jal Jeevan Mission of the Centre. The local and regional industries should intensify their participation and partnership to make real impact.
Shri V.K. Sharma, Director, MSME-DI, Jaipur, urged all the MSMEs to anticipate the future and get themselves ready to tackle this scenario. Skill upgradation is the need of the future, he reiterated. He thanked Prof. (Dr.) Hirani for providing the MSMEs of the region an opportunity to acquaint them with these high-influence societal technologies. Shri N. D. Sharma, President, Water Trade Association of Rajasthan along with several others from the industry and entrepreneurs participated in the webinar and interacted with the speakers on the subject.
