Dilipbhai Shah, Vice-Chairman of Ahmedabad District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals who is also the Director of Gujarat State Animal Welfare Board, said that it will launch an exclusive “SPCA Website” to spread awareness on welfare of animals and birds. In this launch Jivdaya, Kapil Thakkar was present. Further, the SPCA Core Committee will set up various committees like legal committee, finance committee, rescue committee, awareness committee, audit committee, animal helpline committee, and quick response committee to further improve its activities in the larger interest of animals and birds with the active involvement of all animal lovers.

Ahmedabad to commemorate Ahmedabad District SPCA Foundation Day on Tuesday.
Nearly nine elephants of the temple were decorated and offered a sumptuous feast, including nutritious natural cake. Then the elephants enthralled the devotees with their ramp show. An animal activist, who is also a former state government officer, on the condition of anonymity said that the SPCA do not get any help from the Gujarat State Animal Welfare Board which is headed by State Animal Husbandry Minister Kunvarjibhai Bavaliya. He also added that Gujarat State Animal Welfare Board should wake up from its deep slumber.
When asked about the Union Environment Ministry’s directive to the States to set up elephant rehabilitation centres in each State ‘Under Project Elephant’ like the one functioning in BJP-ruled Haryana State at Ban Santour, he replied that no such centre exists in Gujarat. When asked about the number of captive elephants, including the temple elephants, in the State, he said only the Forest Department could furnish such data.
