New Delhi: On Wednesday, the third trading day of the week, the stock market opened on the green mark and closed with strong momentum while trading in gains throughout the day. The 30-share index Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed at 56,817 with a gain of 1039 points or 1.86 per cent, while the Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange closed at 16,975 with a gain of 312 points or 1.87 per cent.
Earlier, the BSE Sensex rose 685 points to open at 56,462
, while the NSE Nifty index jumped 196 points to start trading at 16,859. During trading, the Sensex rose by 1047 points to reach the level of 56,824. While the Nifty of NSE also touched the figure of 16,978 with a strong gain of 315 points. Earlier on Tuesday, both the indices of the stock market market closed on the red mark, losing early gains on the last trading day. While the BSE Sensex lost 709 points to close at 55,777, while the NSE Nifty slipped 225 points to close at 16,646.

Due to the fall in the stock market, the capital of the investors decreased by Rs 2.61 lakh crore. The market capitalization of BSE listed companies declined by Rs 2,61,145.72 crore to Rs 2,51,66,630.06 crore amid a weak trend in the market.
