The Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel called on His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, in Surat to greet His Holiness on his 78th birthday celebrations. Syedna Saifuddin has chosen to have his birthday officially celebrated on the 20th of Rabiul Akhar, the 4th month of the Islamic calendar, to coincide with the birthday of his father and predecessor, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, who passed away in 2014.
A celebratory procession was held by community members on the eve of the birthday. Syedna Saifuddin, alongside Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, observed the procession from a specially constructed stage in Zampa Bazaar.
During their interaction, His Holiness expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for the birthday greetings and for being part of the occasion. The Chief Minister sought Syedna’s blessings and the community’s continued support in various socio-welfare programs for the development of the state and the nation as a whole.
Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin has been in Surat and Dumas for the past couple of weeks. Senior officials, professors and graduates of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Academy and other community members have also been in Surat to attend the annual educational programmes called ‘Al-Istifada al-Ilmiyyah’.
